word to binary conversion

Hello,
I need to write vhdl code to convert a given word to binary stream using ascii values of each letter in the word. Is there any standard function for that? else,please tell me how can it be done.

You need to provide more details. Where are the "words" coming from. How are they provided? Ascii codes are binary values, so what conversion do you need?
 

I need to read a word from keyboard and generate the binary stream for that.Later should modulate them using Bpsk.
