Poly orientation vertical in short channel layouts

Help me please,
Why poly orientation should be vertical in short channel layout? And with what reference one say poly orientation is vertical?
 

Hi,
in vertical orientation you can reduce some unwanted poly to poly effects..

And the reference is , you can see it on your tool..
you can easily see vertical and horizontal axis of the whole design

We maintain poly pitch same for all layout design in lower node..can u help me why so..How it related to process???
