I´ve seen this cool device at:
http://www.cyic.com/pendrive.htm

It should be possible to build this pen by myself, isn`it ?
Is there somewhere in the www a circuit or tips to this device ?
I think I would need a cheap flash card and a little microcontroller.

very handy

but a potable parallel port cd rom writer cost 80 $ about 60 £ sterling
and writes a disk at 12 X speed thats 800mb in 5 - 6 mins

i think it would be better to buy one anyway

as they will be dirt cheep

and prob cost you fifty times more to build

These pens are certainly gimicky and as Simbox said it would cost a lot to design one from scratch. I'm now using Smart Media cards as they have plummeted in price and the USB read/writers are only about 20 quid - so I have one at home and work and just take the cards around with me..
Slightly off topic but does anybody know if there is a USB socket assembly that will fit in an unused floppy drive slot as it's a pain trying to plug in the USB round the back of the PC (or is there a USB assembly on a flying lead?)
