i want to build Automatic Unmanned Railway Crossing GATE. Need Help. I am using a toy train which have three coaches???

Hi,

You also need to say what type of micro and programming language you intend to use - if you have any idea yet ?

What devices do you intend to use for sensing the approaching train and for operating the gates as these directly relate to how your programming will evolve.

Also google on your title and look up RFID readers.

RFID might be overkill for this application. A reed switch under the track and a magnet under the train would be more appropriate.

If all you want to do is open the gate as the train approaches and close it after the train has passed, you need an RS flip-flop, set by a reed switch on one side of the gate and reset by one on the other. It's output will be an indication of whether the train is near to the gate and you can use that to control the opening mechanism.

Brian.

yeah betwixt is correct....
But some changes I think the gate will be closed when train coming, to avoid the other vehicles crossing the tracks....
and also using SR wont be enough for making bi directional gating arrangement....
