Can anyone share with me, the basic procedure to establish an Ethernet connection between a computer and a microcontroller kit.

A flow diagram would also be great.

There are two types of chips that can connect you to lan. For example, Wiz5100 which implements tcp/ip and other protocol stacks and enc28j60 that implements only mac layer and needs to implement everything else on microcontroller.

It depends on what you need. Cheap solution or easy to implement solution...
