Hi

I have a prototype hardware with intel CPU that only has serial console (no vga)

I am looking for a Linux distribution that can boot from USB-stick (cd-rom iso image), and default uses serial console to communicate with the operator. This also has to support new chipsets, hard drives, large memory...

The Linux kernel can take some parameters on boot to dump all the screen data onto a serial port.

Also SysV and systemd have options to use a serial port as a screen.

If using SysV read /etc/initd or search google for information on what to add there.

A serial port setup is console mode only, no graphics !

why not try ubuntu ? Maybe it's your choice. It is recommended.

try puppy or arch. pupy is a light weight linux distribution.
