pls guys, i need an smps to charge my 155ah deep cycle battery. my specs is about 30amps,13.8v from a 220v supply. am using a half bridge topology with scraped xformers frm computer power supply..any better working design will be appreeciated..

Do you have exact model Id and manufacturer for your battery. Check manufacturer charging recommendation 30A for your battery can result in distortion of the plates. Specially control of initial charging current on start of charging process is improtant.

Usually charging voltage is 14,4V for cycling charging (some deepcycle batteries 14,7V) and 13,8V for float charging.

thanks so much tpetar, do u have any idea of the minimum starting current requirement for charging the battery. and maybe a working circuit for that..

Charging/discharging currents and voltages is provided by battery manufacturer in battery datasheet, if you cant get these informations apply general parameters for lead acid deep cycle batteries.

For start its good to know manufacturer and model ID of battery. :)

Best regards,
Peter
