dxp2004 global change

Hello,

I am new in dxp2004, but have an experience with protel 99. I am wondering is there a command or something to change a pad size (not hole size) on global level, as it is possible in protel99.

Thanks,

Yham

Re: dxp2004 global change

In additon to the above is some one can point out on how we could try and change the following at the global level.

1.via sizes
2.pad sizes
3.track sizes

TIA

Just press F11 when you have selected your tracks. This will start the inspector which will give you the option to change values for parameters such as track width etc. These changes will apply to all selected objects.Do the same for pads or vias, make sure only pads or vias are selected

Select the tracks (and only tracks) you want to change and then use
the Inspector panel. That is the very brief version. The
implications and execution of the "select" etc are more involved, but
the use of the Inspector - and sometime various right-click options
in the List panel - are you basic methods of executing globals.

While editing on a PCB, you can right click and use the Find Similar
Objects option as a sometimes-quick way into selecting stuff.

Make sure you understand you selections when using the Inspector as
the Inspector only shows attributes that are common to all selected
objects (and across all open sheets when editing in Sch). The
Selection memories are a great way of managing selections.

An improvement to the Inspector may be a Filter drop list that would
allow you to select, say, just tracks from the selection and see all
attributes that below to tracks in the Inspector panel - this would
be another way we can do changes without loosing our selection (a
real issue in DXP, that could be much better managed in P99SE). While
in this filtered mode should changes you make to an attribute also be
applied to selected but just masked out in Inspector - I would
suggest not, but maybe doing so would be better.

Global editing in DXP is much more powerful than in P99SE - and in
spite of what some (many?) think I prefer it. I am having trouble
finding too many global operations that take more time in DXP than
P99SE (yes I re-read that and it says what I mean).
