LED part number does not indicate which Vf group?

Hello,

I am trying to order a white MX6AWT LED from Cree in the Vf group "D"
How do i do this?, given that the Vf group does not appear in the order code for this LED?


On digikey, all you are given is the LED order code, which does not indicate the Vf group....to find out the Vf group, one needs the "bin code"...but digikey do not list the bin code.

Regarding the "MX6AWT-A1-0000-000C51" LED, how do i know what Vf group this is from?....this part is on digikey, but there's no way of knowing which Vf group it is from.

Here is the Binning and labelling document for MX6 LEDs from Cree (page 3 shows the Vf groups, page 2 shows the order codes, and bin codes)...

Page 2 of the binning and labelling doc shows you that the Vf group does not occur in the order code.

As (exhaustingly) discussed in your previous thread, this LEDs apparently can't be ordered with specific Vf binning.

The bags will show product results with bin labels, but they cannot dial this value into their process. It is a statistical variation of production.

Vf group "D" is the "cream of the crop" with the lowest Vf. All customers want this. You would have to buy the lot and sort yourself for this product.

OK , i'll forget "D" then and opt for "F" group instead.

If its not possible to order a specific Vf group, then i assume that its not possible to find out what is the cost difference between Vf binned ones and non Vf binned MX6 LEDs?

As i understand it, no LED foundry will allow anybody to buy specific Vf groups of LEDs because they are worried that they will be left with a load of unwanted LEDs that have no binning, or are from unpopular bin groups.

It sounds bizarre, almost like a fish n chip shop selling cod some days and white-fish the next.......and not allowing you to choose, just in case they end up with a pile of unwanted white-fish.
