hi friends, i have one doubt.

we are using filler cells in between physical design flow right, and metal filling is used at the final stage.

what is the difference in between these two??

can any one explain on this

Fillers are standart cells with Nwell/Pwell contacts inside. And dummy structures (metall filling) are just squares of metals.

What the ... Sorry for the double post.

Filler cell if for deep layer and filling is for metal and do, in digital PnR tool.

filler is used for continuity of the well in the spaces which are empty during place and route. While metal fill is done after the design is complete to keep an uniform metal density to avoid dishing effect during chemical mechanical polishing. So each one has a different application and any process both are needed.
