I have to design a PCB that should house a chip to be tested through FPGA (to be placed on the board itself as well).
I have written down a bunch of test steps to be performed but I have no idea how to start the PCB design. Is there any material on this topic (not PCB design in general but for chip test)?

Before going to PCB design understand the chip set features ,what each pin is going to do and what results you are expecting in the FPGA..
And also think about what input you need to give from FPGA to ur chipset to get the expected results...By this analysis you will get some idea about what and all is required on the PCB to get the expected results..
