spartan 3e ethernet not working

hello i am trying to implement a vhdl code fo ethernet pcto spartan 3-e starter board communication
i tried to use the https://www.fpga4fun.com/10BASE-T.html example but i couldnt make it work
since ethernet on board is not connected directly to fpga

can anyone help? and did anyone succeeded with transfering udp packet from and to the fpga?
