How to start a project using dsPIC?

Im going to do aproject to design dc energymeter using dspic in C

The sensed V & I is multiplied to get power and energy is calculated
ADC is needed.
Plan to take 10 sample in 1sec

Has to Dsiplay energy using LCD

Which all things has to take care & where to start?

im in a starting trouble..
suggestions plz..
 

Can you just buy a development board? You can find them with LCDs etc on them.

c30 compiler

My doubt is where to begin..

plan to take samples of v& i in 1sec.so timer is needed
ADC is needed
what should be the sequenc to do?
to do it in C i wanna go thru pgms done in dsPIC using C.From wer i get that?
