7.2v li-ion charger

Need som help on the subject. - I new to designing battery applications, so pointers for principles and circuit examples would be nice. Links and so on.

I'm building a portable device, and have an Atmel controller present, which I consider using for charge controller, by letting it control a FET, for pulse charging and then measuring current with a series resistor. Is this to simple, or should other things be taken into consideration.

DC-charge supply 9V@700mA

Battery 7.2V@1100mAh Li-Ion

Regards.

Is it a board level design or CHIP level design. If chip level, I think it would be more complicated than this. Besides the sense nlock, you need regulator, comparator, etc.
