waveport assigning in probe feeding

Dear all,

I am using a probe feed antenna.

Could you please let me know how to set the wave port with a cap. I tried w/o cap but error is port refinement error that port is internal to the structure .

Thanks and regards
Prakash

Re: waveport assigning in probe feeding

You do say which software.

I assume that you are using HFSS. A cap is simply a metallic object on the "back" side of a port, particularly if the port is internal to the model. It serves to define the direction of the power out of the port. without that the simulator does not have a way to determine the direction of the input. If your port is coaxial for example place a thin disk on the end of the coax. Imaging that it is a bit like the shell of a coaxial connector.

if HFSS ,internal port can use only lumped ports

Re: waveport assigning in probe feeding

Hi All, I got some problems on size of coaxial wave port. Since i am simulated planar antenna which i am using wave port to be touched with my feed point of antenna, although the result of simulation (...)©
