Hello, recently ive found a nice resource site (dogstar.dantimax.dk) , and wanted to start building this nice phono tube preamp.
However , I cannot understand in the schematic , just right of the 12AT7 tube, there are 3 symbols, called NE2 vr101-201.
Can you explain me what is this NE2 symbol ? Thank you !

Neon-tube voltage regulators; Google gets lots of information.

Are you sure about it? I did some searching but could never imagine neon tube. What if I bypass it ?

Google search for "ne-2 voltage regulator" gets lots of information.

At risk of making it too 'modern' you could replace them with 82V Zener diodes but do not bypass them completely. They are used as voltage regulators but be careful because they do change characteristics after a lot of use.

Brian.

NE2 neon lamps seem to be still available; Mouser, for instance, lists them as do many others on the 'net.

They are also available on ebay.

very nice, thanks for that info. mouser sells for 0.25 eur, but its pitty to pay 20eur for shipping. same on ebay :/
