Hi i am using R30x module. it is a finger print module, communication is RS 232. how to start the programming, please guide me..

first i am trying to interface finger print module R30x with 8051. first i am trying to interface with PC.
but it is not showing any thing on my hyper terminal. even i can not write any thing on my hyper terminal (after connecting fingerprint module R30x).

i have tested on 9600-115200 bps)

i am interfacing my fingerprint module R30x with PC through MAX 232 ic.

Post your schematic of the MAX232 to R30X interface.

Have you made the GND lines common between the MAX232 and the PC?

thank you very much, yes both ground of PC and finger print module are common.

pls find the details about the module

You may have incorrectly wired the MAX232 connections, which is why I requested you post a schematic of that particular section of the design.

The default baud rate according the the datasheet is 57,600 bps.

Also what type of power supply are you utilizing for the R30x module?

i am using 1amp 12v adapter then 7805 for 5v.

pls gothrough the ckt diagram, thank you.

any body who can give the solution... plz

i'd suggest u first of all write a demo program that'll establish a communication between your PC and MCU. so as to know where to start from cos basically u cant do same at a go. looking at the circuit it seem ok but i guess that its not your full schematic. also try considering filtering your DC BUS so as to reduce noise. also check your hypertiminal directly without the module or MCU inplace, you cant do that by temporarily connecting the TX and RX lines together while you send a byte...the value sent shud come back to you then u'd sure that one problem is down. from here it'll do you more good to test your MCU and system just like i have said already cos it'll be more easier for you than working with the module while things ares still complicated....
