A basic question on Sine Wave Inverter

    Friends,

These days I have been going through various posts in this forum to have some basic idea on sine wave inverter. Regarding high side and low side MOSFETs I have come to a point that those MOSFETs whose drains are tied to +ve supply are of High Side and those, whose Sources are tied to Gnd. are of Low Side. I earnestly request experts to confirm if it is true.

Also I request clarification of the sequence of switching i.e. high frequency PWM signal and low frequency (50Hz) signal for each half cycle.

    regards

    swapan

    I know. I know. And once more - I don't know.
I am too old and would not have enough knowledge to judge, and only have made some remarks in order not to be called ignorant.

    Hi Swapan
What do you mean by that ?
What kind of inverter you're interested in ? high level inverters ? or simply a DC link inverter ? for how much power ?
If you tell me more informations , i will guide you more .

Re: A basic question on Sine Wave Inverter

    Hi Swapan,

Goldsmith is correct. There is a big variety of inverter topologies out there, and the connections between devices are not always as easy as you describe.
Some single-phase inverter configurations for DC/AC conversion are: half bridge, full bridge with bipolar voltage switching, full bridge with unipolar voltage switching, voltage cancellation, square-wave mode, etc.
Some general literature readings may result useful to be more accurate in your enquiry.

    Cheers,

    Rik
