Hi all,

I am new here. I am doing routing for PCB differential pairs, and come across writer trace & reader trace terminology.
- Differential signals from signal generator go to cable to PCB trace to the chip: that PCB trace is called writer trace?
- Differential signals generated from the chip to PCB trace, and to be measured/observed in Oscilloscope, that PCB trace is called reader trace?

I know it is a very stupid question, if you know the answer, please help me to answer. Thank you so much !!

Differential signal is consist of one positive signal and one negative signal. which has to closely coupled for its timing condition. but what you explaining reader and writer i am not getting.

Thanks and Regards
Praveen

Hi praveenlb, i understand the part of differential signal. However, i come across the term that for differential signals PCB trace, there are reader trace and writer trace. And i am not sure what do they mean.

Never heard of them....
but your logic of defining these terms seems close
