Want to build a circuit which can increase the voltage level to a certain level & lim

Want to build a circuit which can increase the low voltage (i.e. of input) level from 180V AC to 220V AC or 230V AC & limit the voltage level to 220 V Ac or to 230 V AC if the input voltage level is higher than 220 V Ac or 230 V AC so that device or equipment stay safe and keep working ??

Hi Munzir
you didn't mention your required power ?

A transformer may be bulky and expensive, but sometimes it is the easiest (and obvious) path to a goal.

Regulating AC is not so easy of course.

For 2 Required devices having different power ratings :

1) single phase : AC 220V & starting amps 3Amps (i.e. starting torque) and the stabilized amps 2A ... For deep freezer
2) single phase : AC 220V & starting amps 2.7Amps (i.e. including the starting torque of a CRT monitor) and the stabilized amps 1 Amps

thanks

It looks like you have two options:
AC-DC-AC inverter-type devicw
or
multitap transformer with triacs or relays.
If you want to do it by yourself, the secod option is much easier to design and build.

Re: Want to build a circuit which can increase the voltage level to a certain level &

Inverters are the best option if it is a single phase device

Can you provide any of their circuit (of the inverters) ?

Hi Munzir
A short answer : a simple link inverter which has a simple push pull converter or even a forward converter ( because your required power is low ) , as it's first stage , and then an H bridge with an LPF at out put ( LC) and then a simple fed path .
Good luck

Re: Want to build a circuit which can increase the voltage level to a certain level &

There is a type of transformer called an autoformer. It has only one main coil, plus a smaller coil which is wound so it will boost the incoming AC.

This type is designed to step incoming AC up or down by a small amount. It is not so expensive as a transformer with a primary and secondary.

An autoformer has multiple taps at different points on the coil. It provides several posts for you to attach wires where you want a certain AC volt level.

It should be possible to operate relays so as to connect the different taps to your house current. (This is the method DrWhoF referred to in post #5.) You must make or buy the necessary control device, that would do this.

A 1200 W autoformer may suit your purpose.

kindly provide the circuit schematic please ???

by inverters do you mean VFDs or Inverters (i.e. those convert the DC power into AC power with the battery and charging system) ???
