Hello all,

I am trying to do a project on traffic light using gates and timers.Initially I want to start with lights in only 2 directions i.e, N/S and E/W. Any suggestions please.

A single 4017 IC (one of ten counter) driven by a slow clock, can operate one light.

It's too easy to do it that way of course.

Are you only allowed to use gates? Nevertheless the 4017 method can give you ideas how to clarify steps in the project flowchart.

This site has a schematic for controlling both traffic lights.

It's among the 30 LED projects. (According to the website caption I am not breaking any copyright law by posting the image.)

Hello BradtheRad,

Thanks for the links.I am trying a circuit using 4 bit counter and a decoder.If that donot work,I will try this.

Good work pal but what exactly is wrong

I feel that you are advertising the world that you are doing a project using DECODER

Hey jeffrey samuel,

Hello Er.abdulrehman,
The clock timing will be about 10 secs.

Hello nyanphyoaung,
Thanks for links

use monostable multivibrator for t=10sec,
t=1.1RC
t=10
assume R=10k
therefor c=0.0009uc(take 0.001uc)
