That was an old project I did a couple years ago:

A short video (sorry for the low quality):
https://youtu.be/6P0OKhac51g

It was suppose to be an electronic hand-shower, it worked but it never moved from the test stage.

The OLED display (96x64) is controlled by a PIC18F4525 programmed in C plus some (small) parts in assembler to improve speed.
The quality of the display is far better than it seems from the pictures... anyone is an expert photographer ?

The sensing of the finger is obtained by an array of IR led plus relative fotodiode (you can see them in the pictures).

One big problem was aesthetical. How to hide the sensing circuits ? I wasn't able to find any IR transparent plastic (but opaque to visible light). Any idea ?

Thanks for the fast reply,
it seems what I need, I use to buy a lot from Farnell but I never checked

Just two points:
- Unluckly the datasheet link seems broken (but I'll try starting from the manufacturer).
- Is it overpriced ? A rought calculation tell me it will cost 4-5€ per piece...any experience with these materials ?

Strange, the link works for me. Farnell part number is 177144. It does seem expensive but you would only use the bare minimum you need. A chunk 3"x1" would not be too expensive. There may be cheaper sources - certainly from the Far East for volume supply.

I haven't used that sheet but similar ones.
