Hi there,
I am having a SIM908 EVM board. I was able to send AT Commands and receive GPS data from a hyper terminal and a PIC24F.

My next step is to send the GPS data to a backend server over a HTTP POST. I inserted a sim card in the EVM Board. I am using a normal power supply provided in the EVM kit. The VBAT LED is steady Blue, the GSM_NET Led is blinking at regular intervals.

I am not able to connect to the GSM network. My sim card does not have any pin enabled.

when I type
AT+CSQ

the result is
+CSQ: 0,0

for the command
AT+COPS?

it returns
+COPS: 0

I am testing from my window..and outside is an open field..and I get good signal reception from my normal mobile phone.

Is there something I am missing... turning on the gsm module or need to provide some parameters to the EVM board to connect..? can someone guide me please..?
thanks
Stap

Hi,

DTR MUST be grounded according to SIM instructions
VANT needs to be Active to receive GPS signals.

Please try the demo software from SimCom to check if your board is working. Then derive your AT commands.

cheers

Hello Stap,

I tried the nmea gps demo v3.00 and followed the steps that is mentioned in the development kit manual. When I run the software it gave a response

"Fail: No NMEA Gps Output! Please check."

Is this an antenna problem or my board is not working? Thank you...
