How do i go about designing a linear FM (chirp) signal for synthetic aperture radar application? help!![/b]

dds

The usual method is to use a dds and make small steps in frequency for short times. This produces a stair step that is close enough to a ramp. One thing to look out for is whether you sweep up or down. One of the ways is better than the other, but I cannot remember which or why.
