Hi Guys ,
We Are Offering 8051 Series USB Programming Kit In India From Willar As thier National Representatives .This is not the open source kit they offer but the "Enhanced Kit " .Please Find Construction Details .

"Guys,
You All Know that i sell Sofitech Products .This includes their programming kits And Programmers .They Have a DIY Kit Called the SP200S .This Kit Is available In the "Open Free Version " And Also In The "Closed Enhanced Version" .You Folks Can Download The Construction Details , Schematics And Bill Of Material Of The Basic Kit -> Here

Now Lets Discuss The Enhanced Kit In Detail .

The Complete Enhanced Kit Comes With everything You need .The PCB the components .The Assembly Guide is in pure @!#!#!#! " chinese " and Hence The Need for This Long Lecture .Please Have a Look At what You Will Get If you Order The DIY Kit For The "enhanced " model of the willar sp200s kit .

Well You Should Now start with the assembly of this kit .This Kits Is Supplied With a PCB And The PCB has Three SMD IC's ,The USB To Serial Converter " PL2303HX " ,The " MC34063 " VPP Voltage Generator And The "74HC164 " IC .These IC's Are Presoldered By willar At Thier Factor So That you Do Not Have To Rack Your Brain with the smd soldering .The first job is to pick the pcb up and make sure you have the following ready on the assembly table .

1 : Multimeter
2 : Soldering Iron/station
3 : Wire cutter/Nipper " To Cut Leads Once soldered "
4 : Nose Plier "to Bend all the Component Leads "
5 : Desoldering Pump / Wire " If something Goes Wrong and You Need To Desolder "
6 : Solder Wire "this Kit comes with Solder Wire Of Extreme High quality "

PS : We Can Provide you the toolkit also If You Like It .

Once you have all the things ready ,please check all the components one by one to make sure all is ok .Have a look at the pcb photo for your reference

Now Once You Have Tested The Components ,please seperate them all on some paper and if you like you can also note down on that very same paper the values of the part and keep the part on that part of the paper .Once this process is done you should first install and solder all the tiny products like the " Resistance and Diodes " .Please Have a Look At The PCB Once These Are Installed .The Brightness Of The LED that You will Install Later Is Dependent On Resistance No " R4 and R5 " .You Can Install anything From 470 Ohms ~ 1.5 Kilo Ohms there .Also i Would Suggest you Leave The Resistance " R10 " Yet As This is Used For VPP Voltage Generation . Kindly Note That The 1N4148 Diode Has a Black Band and That is The Cathode -Ve Of The Diode And Will Be Installed Where the White Line Is In The Silkscreen Side Of The PCB .

Once The small components are done ,Please proceed with the installation of Larger components Like The Smaller Capacitors ,Larger Electrolytic Capacitors , Inductor , LED ,Resistance Bridge ,Crystal And the Main Connector for USB .Let Me Guide you With the Actual Installation Here .

Capacitors :

  • First Install the 22pf 4 Capacitors .Then Install the Single 220 pf Capacitor .The Code On This Would Be 221 And on the first 22pf would be 22 Only .Once This is Done Pick Those 104 Coded Capacitors and Install Then they Are 0.1 Micro Farad . Once This is Done Leave The Other Capacitors for the Time Being .
LEDS :

  • Install the Two LED On the PCB then .Make Sure The Red Goes Into The PWR Area And The Green Into the STA Area on the pcb .Kindly Note That One Leg of This Component Is Longer and That is the anode +Ve side And should be Installed Facing Towards The Main MCU Chip .The Shorter leg is the -Ve and Should Be Installed Towards Your Tummy / Where willar SP200S Is Written .
Crystals :

  • Once This Is done Please Install The Two Crystals .These Do Not Have Polarity Unlike The LEDS .The 22.1184 Drives The MCU And The 12 Mhz Drives the USB To Serial Converter chip .Remember the Crystal is Installed Without any Polarity issues .
Transistors :

  • This Kit Comes With Two 8550 Transistors and 4 [ 9014/8050 ] Transistors .Other Then The Q1 and q4 All Transistors Are Under The MCU 40 Pin IC Base And Hence After Assemble Make sure you Press Them From One side and Tilt them To 90 Degree .For This To Happen Once you are assembling make sure you press the transistor in the pcb as much as you can .
    • You Can Use any 9014 Or 8050 Transistors .
Other Components :

  • Once this Is Done Install The Inductor "this will have no polarity " .After This Install The electrolytic Capacitors .Please Remember the Electrolytic Capacitors Have Polarity And the Negative Lead Is Shorter Then the positive Lead And On The PCb the Negative side Is Having White Lines .You will See Sometimes that the Capacitors actually have a higher voltage then rated in The "BOM " Bill of material ,this is Fine .
Note : The PCb Will Look Like This Now

Willar%20SP200S%20Enhanced%20Kit%20-%20Large%20Items%20Fitted.jpg

Now Its The Time To install The 40 Pin IC Base Where You Will Install The " Micro-controller that is Programmed With Enhanced Willar SP200S Code " . Kindly Make sure The Cut in The IC Base And the SilkScreen Match .I Would Recommend Someone To Solder Pin No 1 and 21 Or 40 And 20 So That it Remains in The PCb And All Other Pending Legs Can Be Soldered Without The Base Moving .Its Always Fine To Have All The Components Fitted tightly to the PCB .Once This is Done Only the ISP Header , The 40 Pin ZIFF Socket And The 2 Pin Male Header Is Left To Be soldered Into This PCB .Now is The Time to test the programmer .Double Check it for Any Dry soldering , Short Soldering ,Wrong component Installed At Wrong Place ,Polarity Based Components Installed the Other Way Around .If You find any Issues Rectify Them With Desoldering wire / Pump .The Do Not Connect This To your Desktop or Laptop .Use a Ac To USB Female Adapter Conmmonly Avaliable In The Market And Connect The USb Cable to that and connect the usb cable to the programmer ,If everything is Well the PWR red light will glow " .The Take the Multimeter To voltage Range And Put The Ground probe to TP4 And Put The Red Probe To TP1 you will Get 3.3 Volts Or Near this .In My Case i Have Ben Getting Around 3.6 Also .This Is Actually Controlled By Resistance "R1 " And Can Be Tweaked If Necessary .Then Connect The Probe To TP3 VCC ,It Should Be Around 5.0 .In My Case It Was 4.8 .Then Put The Red Probe To TP2 VPP It Should Be Around 14.3 .Plus And Minus 0.3 Is Possible .Remember you will Not Get Any VPP Voltage If You do Not Install the Resistance R10 Before This Test ,I suggest you Just Solder this a Bot To R10 So That you Could Easily Take It Out And Install Other Resistance if Necessary .The Lower The resistance The Higher The VPP and Visa Versa .If This Passes This Test then Install The ISP Header , 2 Pin Male Header + 40 Pin ZIFF Socket Into The PCB ,It Should Look Like This Now .

Willar%20SP200S%20Enhanced%20Kit%20-%20Sockets%20Fitted.jpg

Once This is Done ,

The Only thing You Need To Do Is Install The MCU And Test The TP's again .Kindly Make Sure you Download The entire Construction Zipped "Rared" File From Here -> Click Here .Once you Extract This In your Computer you Should Install The Prolific USB To Serial Drivers The 3.3 volt TP "Test Point " Should Remain Same As Before .The VCC Should stabilize a Bit And Should Be More Near 5.0 Volts .The VPP Should Come Down By 2 Volts To 12.3 Volts .The Percentage Of Error Remains As Earlier Only .

Note : This Time Install the Device On The USB Port Of Your Computer .

If This Passes This Test You Have Made a Damn Good Atmel MCU " Microcontroller Programming Kit .That Could Program The Atmel 51 Series Of MCU + Winbond And SST MCU's Also .Not Only This You Could Also Program I2C Series Serial EPROMs Like The 24 and 93 Series .You Can then run the Willar Software Ver 2.20 From the Extracted software and The Programmer Should Be Detected As a "Enhanced SP200S " .If the Software Does Not detect The Same ,Make sure You Set The Serial Port Of The Prolific USb To Serial controller to Com Port 1 ~ 4 .

The Final End Product

Willar%20SP200S%20Enhanced%20Kit%20-%20Complete.jpg

PS : Any questions ,Comments :p ,I Would Recommend You Buy 1 Unit Of The Atmel 89S52 IC From Us Or The Market and Try And Program This With the Hex code That Comes with the Zipped Construction File .If The Same Is successful You Can Then Take Out the Enhanced MCU Installed In The Kit And Install That MCU You Just Programmed .Once You Reconnect This To The Computer and run the Software ,It Should Be Detected As Basic SP200S Model and Will Have Smaller Device support .If this Test Passes Please Take The 89S52 Out and Install The Enhanced SP200S MCU Back .Enjoy The Show :D"
