Hi folks,

The transistor in question has only the markings 2502 and below 1002. The circuit is a Dell laptop power supply, Output: 19.5v DC, Input: 100 - 240v - 1.5A, Model: PA-1650-05D.

On the circuit board it only says ON1 and nothing else. Is there an equivalent?

In order to decide for a replacement try to make some photos of the PCB solder side to get an idea about the schematics.

Can you take a new photo in this particular area? :-D (I need more light/maybe try by changing camera angle/try to clean the PCB using some alcohol). The QN1 could be a IC, e.g. TL431.

That’s a DS2502 integrated circuit:

The DS2502 1Kb Add-Only Memory identifies and stores relevant information about the product to which it is associated. This lot- or product-specific information can be accessed with minimal interface—for example, a single port pin of a microcontroller. The DS2502 consists of a factory-lasered registration number that includes a unique 48-bit serial number, an 8-bit CRC, and an 8-bit Family Code (09h) plus 1Kb of EPROM which is user-programmable. The power to program and read the DS2502 is derived entirely from the 1-Wire® communication line.
