Hello.
I want to make an USB solar charger for my blackberry.
I don't want to buy a solar charger, I want to make it myself.
I bought 4 Polycrystalline photovoltaic cells with specifications:
Average Power (Watts): 1.8 W
Average current (amps): 3.6 A
Medium voltage (volts): 0.5 V
Dimensions: 3 1/4 inch x 6 inch (80mm x 150mm)

The original charger has output: 5V-1A.

I found some tutorials how to do this, but I don't want to use rechargeable batteries.
I think that is more easy do make a solar charger without rechargeable batteries.

Do you think that my solar cells are good for my project? I must use rechargeable batteries?

I am very newbie in this area, so any advice is valuable.
Thank you.

You should buy solar charger with builtin lithium battery.

Price of this is about 12-15eur with 2000mAh battery and about 7eur with 500mAh:

Such devices GPS navigations, mobile,.... my opinion is that is not good to charge over PC USB port direct, better use USB HUB with power supply adapter (power injection).

You can use only solar panels without battery, battery is good to use he give continuity of power, when shading or no light source. I make solar chargers for small project like sms alarm, I use small solar panels extracted from cheap solar garden lamps.
