Dear All,

I am a student and now studying about synchronization in OFDM system. I read all the threads in the forum related to OFDM.

In OFDM, they use CP before OFDM symbols (by cut the last part of symbol to put into the guard between symbols). And for synchronization they use two PN (syn pilot) before OFDM symbols before transmit.

Could you pls advice me CP is diffirent with PN or they are same?

Thank you so much and good day

Emily

Dear All,

I think CP is diffirent with PN (syn pilot). As I am reading now, we can do synchronization in OFDM based on CP or based on PN.

If using PN, then we add PN before CP in OFDM frame.

If using CP, then we don't need PN.

Please correct if I am wrong.

Thanks very much

Emily

Hi Emily,
I am in the same situation like you. I am a student and I have to write a Matlab function for synchronization in OFDM system. I found an interesting book and perhaps it can be useful for you: "MIMO-OFDM Wireless Communications with Matlab", Y.S Cho,J. Kim, W.Y.Yang,Ch Kang, Wiley, Chapter 5.
