UMTS Root cosinus filter

Has anyone the "Right" RRC function for umts (utra-fdd)?

I'v found the continues impulse response in ETIS 125.101 spec, however if I try to design a fir filter in matlab, the cutoff frequency is missing for computing the coefficients. I know that having the impulse response you are able to express the H(f).

BTW what's the difference between "chip impulse filter,m abbr. RRC" and the "transmit pulse shaping filter"?

Re: UMTS Root cosinus filter

Hi eda4you

What thechnique for designing the fir filter are you using ?
Do you just sample the continious impulse response? Canyou clearify?

Note that by the name impulse invariance other technic is meant. This is just maping of
the poles of the analog and digital filters. but this is for IIR of course

Re: UMTS Root cosinus filter

I've found a solution for my problem.

First of all the RRC is implented using a fir and a low order. I've only to sample the impulse response of the transmitter and I receive the coeffs. However, I've first to simulate how the order for a given SNR and the required BER.

It's became very confusing while I mtried to use the firrcos function (matlab). But it seems to be wrong or another filter in contrast I need.
