Hello, we are learning about single balanced and double balanced modulators.
Apparently single balanced modulators include an information, upper and lower sideband component while double balanced modulators use only the upper and lower sideband components.
Can someone please tell me why the information component is discarded by double balanced modulators. How is that the information component is not necessary ?

Thanks for any help.

Hello fran1942,
First we have to see what is AM : Amplitude of the carrier signal is varied in according with the information signal is called AM.
properties:B.W is 2fm
Double side band suppressed carrier is another modulation technique it is used because of saving the power (unnecessarily wasting the power for carrier) B.w is 2fm.
now the same information is present in both upper side band and lower side band.
why unnecessarily we have to transmit the both the bands for the sake we are transmit only one side to save b.w and power
no b.w is fm only.

For communication we have to remember only few things are effecting
1.band width
2.power.
3.noise.

Single balanced modulation allows full amplitude of carrier frequency through it, but not modulating signal. Double balanced modulator only allows the modulation components through (no Fm or Fc).
