Learn basics of microcontroller

I want to Program a microcontroller in C with usb or serial port for communication with PC, prepare its Dll, and through .net framework prepare its GUI interface in windows. I know C# 4.0 and C. I want to use PIC and MPLAB IDE to program PIC. I need to learn some electronics, can someone guide me initially.
