I have a Kingston RAM DDR2-667 PC-5300, 1GB, with a SMD capacitor broken.
I would like to fix it.

It's brown so I guess it's ceramic, is about 0.6 millimeters wide and about 1.2 millimeters long.

If I can I'll make a picture closely, but there is not much to see ...

Another thing, do you think that with a standard fine-tipped soldering it can be done?

Thanks.

Generally they use hot air rework stations in repair shops. Like Hakko 950/850 etc

0402 = 1.0x0.5 MM
0603 = 1.6x0.8 MM
0805 = 2.0x1.2 MM
1206 = 3.2x1.6 MM
1210 = 3.2x2.5 MM
1812 = 4.5x3.2 MM
2225 = 5.6x6.5 MM
Here are the sizes of components with its packages.
So maybe you need 0402 capacitor.
Because there is sodering paste in the board, so I think it is ok to repair it with a standard fine-tipped soldering. Or you could buy some paste at first.

I know that, but i don't have one.

Yes, it probably is 0402, thanks.

So I need, this?:

I guess so.
But not sure about the exact capacitor, it is a memory stick in the computer? Maybe you could check its No. in the internet and got the its spec. there.

I only found this http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/kvr667D2N5_1G.pdf, but there is nothing about it. I will search for more.

If there is nothing between 0402 = 1.0x0.5 MM and 0603 = 1.6x0.8 MM in ceramic SMD, must be the 0402.

Thanks.

For such bypass / decoupling capacitors in digital circuits, it's often values around 100 nF (sometimes other values and/or more per IC).

Wit a small part like this, a fine tip soldering iron + flux core solder wire should do. No need to order flux / solder paste just for this job!

Btw: Not correct or optimal, but it might not be a problem if that capacitor is simply missing... so you might try to remove remains + a good dose of MemTest86. ;-)
