does infra red led emits red light along with infra red?

Some broadcast red light, usually diode with higher power ratings, like CCTV illuminator leds.

You can look manufacturer datasheet for particular diode to see wavelength range.

If an IR led emits any amount of visible red, then we will see it.

Example, I have never seen any light coming from an ordinary remote control.

From what I understand, an led emits just one wavelength of light. That is, at the pn junction proper.

However we might get visible light from it by driving it with excess current.

LEDs do not emit a single wavelength. If the LED is near infra-red then a noticeable amount of visible red light could be emitted. The same goes for UV LEDs.
