Hi,

Can you suggest me any good book to learn shell scripting which is useful for automation and running number of simulation with only script?

Please, suggest me good book. So, I can buy it out

Thank YOu

There are several good texts covering UNIX shell programming. You did not mention which shell you would like to study.

However, the following cover several of the more popular UNIX shells:

Unix Shell Programming (3rd Edition)

Expert Shell Scripting (Expert's Voice in Open Source)

UNIX® Shells by Example (4th Edition)

Classic Shell Scripting

I own a copy of all of above, they all have their pros and cons, although I find Quigley's UNIX® Shells by Example (4th Edition) particularly well done.

I need very basic book with simple description, I am not hardcore Unix guy. But, I want it as application oriented so, I can write smal script to make my simulation automated.

Thank you for your help :)

I would suggest Quigley's UNIX® Shells by Example (4th Edition) or an earlier edition. I actually own the second and third editions of the text, which are both very good texts with plenty of examples. I'm sure the fourth edition continues the tradition.
