Project Idea:Artificial Eye for blind people.

Our main purpose is to propose an Artificial neural Network Or Microcontroller based approach system to provide guidance and information about the real world environment during daily activities. A voice control GPS system may used to select the destination, an image processing unit may use to provide necessary information about the environment ( such as obstacle, crowd densities, weather condition(day/night), guidance direction etc). This information is then converted to an artificial voice which will guide the blind people by giving him instruction. Finally a High definition camera may be used as eye. All these units can be mounted on the stick used by the blind people.

I want suggestion and information about this project, its possibility and previous attempt( successful).

I have never heard, but i heard a project to determine obstecales via ultrasound sensor placed on a stick and feedabck with a beeper, like auto parking sensors...
GPS idea is nice one i think, like you tell where you want to walk and it directs you like "turn right here" etc... It should be relatively easy and useful compared to image processing based eye.
Before starting to project you may ask some blind people kindly what kind of thing is mostly helpfull for them.

Good luck to you.

I need more feedback about this project, more resourceful information and suggestion such as
1)what will need to create voice control GPS,
2)Is there any voice control chip,
3)if i use Artificial neural network(ANN), how to train them,
4)which simulator for ANN will the best, i know MATLAB is widely used for ANN is there any other?

Any further information to make this project easier and further improvement.

Hello!

1)what will need to create voice control GPS,
2)Is there any voice control chip,
3)if i use Artificial neural network(ANN), how to train them,
4)which simulator for ANN will the best, i know MATLAB is widely used for ANN is there any other?

What you intend to do is extremely complex, and your questions sound like
"How can I cure cancer / AIDS" to me.
Some thoughts:
- Image processing is not an easy task and usually takes a lot of processing power.
I've been involved in a project that aimed to judge whether the "object" in front
of a camera is an animal or a human. Even a simple binary issue like this is complex.
(And even for my own brain, it is complex: for some people I used to know, I couldn't tell).
- Ultrasound may be one way to detect obstacles. However, you will be limited by
their wave length. Detecting the distance to a wall (in the case of auto parking) is easy:
you know that the wall will reflect almost everything you send. Detecting a shallow hole
in the street would not be that easy. A 5-cm deep hole can make someone fall...
- Voice control chip: what do you mean? Voice synthesizer?

Dora.

I appreciate what u said, yes i know it is complex that's why i am asking for suggestion to make it easy and affordable, voice-control chip: i meant a chip that can store some speech and can generate a particular speech according a particular in signal, i heard there is some chip which can perform such thing,

Any suggestion for voice-control GPS?

Any suggestion for voice-control GPS? I want use this GPS as to select the destination which will be selected by the utterance of the user and will provide a real-time information about the current position of the user.
