gyroscope(idg500) interfacing with PIC 16f877a

iam interfacing idg500 to PIC16f877a ,
iam giving output of gyro to ADC porta.0 and then transmit it serially
problem is that when no input is applied serial transmit is open but when i connect gyroscope no serial transmit is recived
can any one help me out ?
