i want to make a watch by using multiplexed 4 digit 7 segment display ,interfacing with atmeha8.can u tell me how to interface these...& the pin configuaration of 4 digit 7 segment.....i also don't know mine is..common anode or common cathode....how can i detect this...plz help me...

Do you have a 4 digit 7 segment or are you connecting 4 individual 7 segments? Did you search for the datasheet of the display?

i've multiplexed 4 digit 7 segment....but i don't know whether it is common anode or common cathode.....i found the datasheet...but i can't...will you plz give the link of datasheet of 4 digit 7 segment....

You said that you found the datasheet. Can you please post the link to it?

no...i didn't found that...i try to found....but i can't...that's why i want the link of datasheet...:(

If you are using individual seven segment display then the pinout is probably like the one shown Interfacing to 7-Segment Displays

You can check if it common anode or common cathode with a multimeter in the diode function or a 5v source with a 270 ohm resistor in series, you can also use it to map the pins to segments.

this is the image of my 4 digit 7 segment display...this is multiplexed when i buy it..&..it has only 12 pin....but i don't know the pin configuaration..:(

In digital multimeter their is a diode test option. Choosing this will let you glow the LED from the probes. Apply power from multimeter probes to the leads, use some trick as comes in your mind and use a note pad, this will be enough to figure out.

I used the same method to make this datasheet.

If you are lucky yours may be same !
