Hi all,
I am trying to fix violations in STA, i want resize cell..i just want to know, how to select cells with increased drive strength from the library,I used get_alternative_cells and report_alternative cells..i am not getting neccessary information on drive strength..

First primetime is not able to modify the netlist.
You could used "size_cell" / "swap_cell" / "rename_cell" / "rename_net".
You could insert buffer to check the timing impact, but you need another tool to really modify the netlist. Primetime could generate a script to be use by DC for example, "write_change -format dctcl -output toto" which contains the insert_buffer equivalent command.

PrimeTime also has the command fix_eco_timing, which is able to size cells automatically. Try it, maybe it will help you.

I dont think u can modify the netlist in PT.
U can only analyze in PT and make the changes going back to any backend tool like ICC, talus or soc encounter.
And after doing the change select the path and do a path based analysis in PT ans finalize.

Hope it helped.....

i dont want to modify the netlist,i want to know how to find out the cell (with high/low drive strength from the library) to resize the cell using size_cell command, i used report_alternative command and get alternative command...

I guess u want to do the what if analysis. U can do that in PT. It will just let u know whether the added buffer or resizing of the existing cell will fix the violation.
This is for ur analysis and will not make any changes to the netlist.

Hope its clear.

ok..but i searched in primetime manual, can u please tell me how to perform what if analysis
