hello , i want to send an sms from my nokia6100 through hyper terminal

But am not getting any response from mobile .only getting some alpha numeric displays as noise

If you want to send SMS using you PC you can use the mobile set software from your PC (Nokia PC suit, I guess)

Do you Know AT commands ?

If no then don't complete the post

Use the mobile cable itself (USB or serial ) and it will be read as a virtual com port where you can select it from the drop down menu of the hyper terminal when selecting the com port ( if there are many ports select one by one and try)

some companies closes external controls of its mobile sets to prevent intrusion and only allows limited AT commands

by the way check different baudrates, it might be the reason

finally if you want to make a project you should a serial GSM module like SIM900

As already pointed out by flashking, you need AT commands and not random characters typing, you will not get any responce in this way.

The simplest think you can do is type "AT" and get an "OK" responce. If you do that, then you made a great start.
I think 57600bps is the proper speed setting for this, if I am wrong someone can correct.

I believe that the following reference will be extremely helpful for you as a starting point.
