What are DFT (Design for test) circuits. Are these circuits assembled inside every IC. How does it test functioning of main IC in which it has been connected. Does it check functioning of IC everytime or once ?

Design for Test would refer to the layout of the pcb.
To allow easy access to important test points on the board using standard test equipment.
The idea is to make testing of the circuit as easy and as cheap as possible.

I didn't get u at all . are this circuit embedded into ICs . how do they test?

'Design for Test' is a broad term that has nothing to do with IC's or any specific circuit.

Another term is 'Design for Manufacture'

It is describing a principle whereby, when designing a printed circuit board or electronic module, consideration should be taken into account to make the manufacture and the testing of the product as simple as possible.

Some complex ic's have 'Boundary Scan' and 'JTAG' interface. This is onboard circuitry in the IC that allows testing of the IC function and I/O pins.

In my knowledge , to aid in post-silicon , silicon debug n test , all new generation processors have some inbuilt circuits used specifically for testing. These are called Design for test circuits .

Correct me if i am wrong.
