Hi all ,

I want to know the Advantages of 135nm technology over 180nm Technolgy. why we are merging from higher nm to lower nm??????????

1. Speed: Transistor with smaller channel will be faster because distance traveled by electron to reach from source to drain will be less.
2. Area: We can put more functionally in the smaller area.It will reduce cost and give better functionality. Smart phones is the best example.
3. Power: It will consume less power.

You should also know about the trade-offs. As you keep on decreasing the channel length the short-channel effect comes into picture. In short-channels the assumed models of the transistors get changed and you need go for a new model. There are many problems in short channel.

These problems are already got solved. We have 28nm chip available in market and 11nm technology is under development and will reach in market by 2015.

There is only one reason. Money.
All other reasons lead to this one.
I so hate Gordon Moore for making our lives so difficult.
