sensor to detect pulse rate

can anybody suggest me an infrared sensor to detect pulse rate ...or will i have to make it using an infrared led n IR photodiode but i tried doin it nd it is not getting appropriately detected...so wat do i do now

I supose pulse rate of heart from finger ?

You must use highbright diode!!! And opticaly isolate from each others RX from TX.

I have used a TCRT1000 recently (available at Digikey) and it works quite well.
so wat do i do now
