The following is an excerpt from the book "4G LTE/LTE-Advanced for Mobile Broadband", from Chapter 10.2.3.1 (CSI-RS Structure):
"if CSI-RS is transmitted in a resource block, the PDSCH mapping to that resource block will be somewhat different depending on the release of the terminal being scheduled in the resource block."
In my understanding, from the book (and other resources), PDSCH for Rel-8 UEs will be punctured by CSI-RS (since Rel-8 terminal has no knowledge of CSI-RS), whil Rel9/10 UEs will consider CSI-RS for rate matching and mapping, and will rate-match and map PDSCH avoiding CSI-RS, for better performance, since they are aware of CSI-RS.
The question is, where is this "different mapping depending on the release of the terminal" specified in the standard? I can't extract it form 36.211/212/213 specs. I was expecting to find it in 36.211 sections 6.3.5/6.4... I can't figure it out. Any help in how to read/where to look in the standard to extract/understand this, would be great.
