touch panle atmega88 to detect X Y in

hi
i want to calculate X ,Y position in touch panel with atmega 88,i use ADC to send X-,X+,Y-,Y+ o pc terminal by RS232
so in atmega 88 and touch controller datasheet has been said that we should calculate Rtuch,but i don't understand relation between Rtouch and X,Y on touch panel
help me :(
