Hi,

On some websites I see a table said to be from IPC-STD-275 containing the current carrying ability for traces of different width and height, and the associated temperature rise.

I found it useful. However, I was not able to find the full document of IPC-STD-275. Could anyone provide a copy?

Matt

IPC-D-275 has been superseeded by IPC-2221 Generic Standard on Printed Board Design. IPC standards are copyrighted material, like most industry standards and not free.

IPC-2221B is just undergoing a revision. A draft is presently available for download:

FvM,

Thanks for the link, I will read it.

Mattylad,

Very good tool. Thanks very much.

Err can I add a correction:
IPC-2152 is the most up to date standard for current carrying capacity, not IPC-2221. Ref: Section 6.2 of the IPC-2221B specification.

IPC-2152 is the most up to date standard for current carrying capacity
Yes. Unfortunately the IPC Document Revision Table does link to the new specific Standard for Determining Current Carrying Capacity in Printed Board Design in the IPC-275 and IPC-2221 entries.

One of the biggest problems with IPC specs is keeping up to date with new issues and cross correlation of specifications. At one point not that far past they were going to come up with a new way of working called the IPC Compass to ease trying to find the relevant info from the relevant spec (not an easy task). I must check to see whether it came to fruition, I haven't heard much about it since 2008ish.

Hi FvM,

Can you please share some other link? since im not able to get that pdf document. If possible, share the full IPC-2221B document.

Thanks,
Nithan

No. You have to pay for official released document versions. All I can suggest to search IPC website for similar draft documents or generally search the web.
