simple license issue - CADENCE IC 6.14

hi all!

this is my problem:

correctly installed cadence IC 614 on a 64 bit fedora 15 machine. correctly copied .cshrc, .cdsinit, .cdsenv. properly modified .cshrc to launch all 64 bit applications.

My question is:

I am a client, license is on a remote server, accessible from here.
I added setenv CDS_LIC_FILE 5280@server in my .cshrc.
I also added CDS_LIC_ONLY 1 in my .cshrc

no license server started on my machine.

Why it doesn-t work? should the admin update licenses on the server? my machine is new.

Did you reboot your machine? You have to do that, unless you have admin rights to start the license server.
 

What you have done is not enough.
You must write a script with CAD rights that enables/disables the licenses' daemons.
Otherwise you must execute the command each time you run cadence suite.

i think i shouldn't start any server. the license daemon is on the remote machine right?

Probably not a license server. But I think you need to run the license manager daemon cdslmd on your local machine. It connects to the remote license server to get you a license.

No,the license daemons are located in your cadence installation directory,thus you call them locally and they manage to enable/disable the license server (remote or local).
 

uh i solved simply setting CDS_LIC_FILE to 5280@servername and letting the server admin to open the firewall to my workstation:)
