Anybody here know about this universal programmer for PIC, AVR?

I think I used it and is good one. You can see the supported devices on the same page. This covers 10, 12, 16, 18, 24 and 33 series of PIC and also Atmel. Only warn NOT TO PROGRAM THE 3.3 volts devices without 3.3 volts expansion board.

If you planing to make your own devices, writing programs for it, forget about programmer. You will need a debugger. It will depends of compiler that you are using.

There seems to be an included debugger for PIC 16f devices - pdb guide

Hi,

Never used that programmer, but if you are going to be doing Pics and eeproms then the Pk2 clone is the one to make - covered countless times in this forum.

It has a fuller support list with Microchips software, including full debugger, logic analyzer etc etc.

Think I have seen some threads where you can use the Pk2 to program some basic ATmega chips, though you can buy decent little ready made programmer for them on ebay for a few dollars.

I already have an AVR burner.
Was looking to make a PIC burner. This one seemed to be the easiest to construct.
Any pointers to PICKit 2 clones which use such easy to find components?

Hi,

The pic below is about the most basic Pk2 clone.

The one Tahmid shows looks very complete with its pcb and voltage selector etc.

All the parts are easily obtainable, apart from possible the little 680uh choke, though mine runs fine with 470uh.
Ignore the FB1 , not really needed.

The inductor isn't too critical. It's for boosting, but there is very little current, so I don't think it's very critical. Mine works fine with 1mH.
