Is there any real benefit (besides support)?
 

Here are some..
1. Window7 has attractive GUI compared to Windows Xp.
2. Hardware lock, you can lock your computer with USB flash drive.
3. Windows 7 has made home networking a much more easy to use feature.
4. Media sharing is another aspect which any common user would find a very much enhanced and improved factor in Windows 7.

In my opinion win7 more better then winxp in all aspects but you may consider about your previous softwares. Are they compatible with win7? Are you ready to spend more money to upgrade with new softwares that compatible with win7.

Microsoft has provide with emulator to emulates circumstance below win7. But sometime its fail to emulates.
 

In win 7 there are inbuild sound card and video cards, But in win xp they are different for each and every processor..
