Hello,

I am starting to research the market to buy a signal processing board for communications signals, including at least 1 ADC (150Msps, 14bit), 1 DAC (200Msps, 14bit) and of course an FPGA.
My purpose is to perform signal processing to signals with bandwidths of 40MHz maximum, and I am having a lot of trouble while choosing an FPGA kit+Expansion board with the ADs/DAs.
My budget is of around $2k, but the problem is that I have no idea if a Cyclone III will be enough, or a Xilinx will offer better performance for not much more price, etc. Also the amount of free resources available would be important, since I am working at the University and our budget is not very big.

Could you help me to, at least, have a clearer idea of what would offer a better relation performance/cost??

Thanks a lot in advance,
Marcos

I had used Avnet Xilinx Virtex-4 MB Development Kit with P240 analog module about 2 years back. You will get cheaper boards with better specs now.
