hi friends

i am using cdence ADE-XL to do simulations my circut contains mos, capacitors,BJT, resistors mos has 5 corners bjt has 3 cap has 3 and res has 3 corners and to it if i add 3 corners of voltage and 3 corners of temperature my total corner combinations become around 1200 do people run so many corners? please suggest me the genral trend followed in the industry

Thanks

Re: corner related query

The typical values of VCC and temp can be neglected for corner simulations' purposes. So,the combinations are reduced to : 5*(3^3)*(2^2)=540.Still they are too many...
For the PDKs i have worked on,the combinations are just 16 --> 2 for VCC,2 for temp,2 for sigma,2 for rcslow - where sigma and rcslow are the variables that represent the spread of the various components' parameters over process corners.
For your process i do not know what can be done to reduce the above number to a more efficient one, please tell us the process you work on and maybe we can tell more from experience.

Re: corner related query

It's common for me to run thousands of corners for process, supply, temperature, loading conditions, input conditions, circuit configurations etc.
Can even come to tens of thousands.
But I usually only run min/max corners and not the typ ones, so 2^N corners.
It all depends on what level of robustness you want in your designs, or the design policy of your company.
